Helping You Restore Your Smile with Crowns and Bridges
Damaged, weakened, or missing teeth can affect how you eat, speak, and care for your smile. Crowns and bridges offer restorative solutions designed to repair or replace teeth while supporting everyday function and appearance.
At Dr. Joe Dental Group, we combine personalized treatment planning with digital technology to create restorations tailored to your needs. Our use of inLab and CEREC technology supports detailed customization and allows many restorations to be completed efficiently in-house.
From repairing a damaged tooth to replacing a missing one, we’ll evaluate your smile, explain your options, and help you choose an approach that works for your oral health and goals.
A More Convenient Approach to Restorative Care
Keeping crown and bridge care in-house allows our team to remain closely involved throughout your treatment. Digital technology supports communication between our practice and dental laboratory while helping us customize your restoration to your individual needs.
For eligible patients, same-day CEREC crowns may also be an option, particularly when a damaged tooth requires prompt attention.

What Are Crowns and Bridges?
Crowns and bridges are both restorative treatments, but they serve different purposes.
Dental Crowns
A dental crown is a custom restoration that fits over a damaged or weakened tooth. Crowns can help restore the tooth’s shape, strength, and function while also improving its appearance. A crown may be recommended when a tooth has been significantly damaged by:
- Decay
- Cracks or fractures
- Large or weakened fillings
- Trauma
- Root canal treatment
- Significant wear
By covering the affected tooth, a crown can provide additional support and help protect the remaining tooth structure.
Dental Bridges
A dental bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by connecting an artificial tooth to neighboring teeth or dental restorations. A bridge can fill the space left by a missing tooth and help restore chewing function and the appearance of your smile.
Bridges can also help maintain the spacing of your remaining teeth and support a more functional bite.
Technology That Supports Your Restoration
Your restoration should be designed around your individual smile. Our digital technology helps us gather detailed information and coordinate the design and fabrication of your crown or bridge.
inLab
inLab digital technology supports the design and customization of dental restorations using detailed digital information about your mouth. This allows our team and dental laboratory to work with precise information when creating your restoration.
The technology can also support other treatments, including dental implants, dentures, and veneers.
CEREC
CEREC is a digital system that allows us to design and create certain ceramic restorations in our office. For eligible cases, CEREC can allow a crown to be designed and fabricated efficiently without relying on an outside laboratory for every stage of the process.
This can help reduce wait times and make the restoration process more convenient.
Crowns for Dental Emergencies
A damaged tooth can happen unexpectedly. Cracks, fractures, severe decay, or a damaged filling can leave a tooth vulnerable and may require prompt dental care.
Depending on the condition of the tooth, a crown may help restore its structure and function. CEREC technology may allow certain patients to receive a same-day crown, helping address the damaged tooth without an extended wait for an outside laboratory restoration.
Dental concerns that may require prompt evaluation include:
- A cracked or fractured tooth
- A severely damaged tooth
- A large or broken filling
- Significant tooth decay
- A tooth weakened after root canal treatment
- Sudden dental pain associated with a damaged tooth
If you experience a dental emergency, contact our office so we can assess the situation and determine the appropriate treatment.
Crowns and Bridges Designed Around Your Smile
Restorative dentistry is about more than replacing or repairing a tooth. The restoration also needs to work with your bite, surrounding teeth, and everyday habits.
Our team takes the time to understand your needs and explain your options before recommending treatment. Crowns and bridges may be part of a broader restorative or cosmetic treatment plan, depending on what you want to address.
If you need to restore a damaged tooth, replace a missing one, or want to explore your options for improving your smile, we’re here to help.
For patients considering a larger cosmetic transformation, crowns may also be incorporated into a smile makeover when appropriate.

A crown may be recommended when a tooth is significantly weakened, damaged, cracked, decayed, or has undergone root canal treatment. Your dentist will evaluate the tooth and explain whether a crown or another restoration is appropriate.
A crown covers and protects an individual damaged or weakened tooth. A bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by connecting an artificial tooth to neighboring teeth or restorations.
A crown is generally used to restore an existing tooth. A missing tooth can be replaced with a bridge or dental implant, which may then be restored with a crown.
Some patients may be candidates for a same-day CEREC crown. Eligibility depends on the condition and location of the tooth and the type of restoration needed.
The lifespan of a crown or bridge varies based on factors such as oral hygiene, bite forces, the condition of surrounding teeth, and everyday use. Regular dental visits can help monitor your restoration and surrounding oral health.
Crowns are designed to complement the surrounding teeth in shape, size, and appearance. Digital technology can help support detailed customization of the restoration.
A crown may be recommended for certain cracked or fractured teeth when enough healthy tooth structure remains to support the restoration. More serious fractures may require a different treatment, including extraction.
Yes. A crown is often used to restore and protect a tooth after root canal treatment, particularly when the tooth has lost significant structure.
